-Scout Cantrell

On October 29, 2014 it was with great sadness that the world lost Scout Cantrell due to complications from an asthma attack.  She was only 9 years old.  She was an excellent student, a phenomenal competitive swimmer, a viola player, and a active member of community who loved doing community service, and a friend to all who knew her.

To try to make sure that Scout's spirit and legacy stay alive, the Cantrell family has started the Scout Foundation in partnership with the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley, to help support the causes that Scout believed in and supported while she was alive.  The Scout Foundation supports the American Asthma Foundation, Anderson Animal Shelter, arts and reading programs for the local schools, and lastly the Scout Cantrell Learn to Swim Program, which offers free swim lessons to those children in our community who could not otherwise afford to learn to swim.  In the past 9 months the For Scout Foundation has granted over $17,000 to these organizations including over $10,000 directly back into our schools to improve our art, music, and reading programs.

It is with our great honor and pleasure to host a "Social For Scout" here at Scout's favorite restaurant on April 24th.  Come out for a great day of fun and remembrance of a truly special girl.  There will be food; a silent auction and raffles; as well as live musical entertainment from our friends Joe Friday and the Dragnets.  All proceeds as well as a portion of our sales, will go directly to the For Scout Foundation.  Let's do our best and make this a truly awesome event, for a girl who touched a lot of our lives.  Do it for you, do it for them, do it for Scout!
